Pfizer Produces Health Resources Guide for Bronx, New York
In partnership with health care providers and New York City government officials, Pfizer has produced a comprehensive health care directory serving Bronx residents.
The 40-page Bronx Health Guide contains a listing of community health centers and services for children, the elderly, and veterans, as well as tips on a variety of health topics, including vaccines, smoking cessation, women’s health issues, prescription assistance, and health care reform. The guide is available in English and Spanish at community health centers, public health offices, and the constituent offices of New York City council members. The directory can also be found on the Pfizer Helpful Answers (PHA) website after July 1.
PHA and Pfizer’s State Government Relations group worked closely with the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, the National Black Nurses Association, and key members of the New York City Council to compile the directory.
“It is an honor to work with these nationally renowned organizations, with which Pfizer shares the common goal of improving patient health,” said Gary Pelletier, Senior Director/Team Leader, Corporate Responsibility, PHA.
“With the support of Council Members Maria del Carmen Arroyo and Annabel Palma, we hope to reach uninsured and underinsured Bronx residents with the message that health care is available to them and easy to find through this new, free resource,” said Anna Maria Maritato, Senior Director/Team Leader, Pfizer Government Relations for New York State.
“The Bronx Guide is an incredible example of how important it is to collaborate,” said New York City Council Member Arroyo, who chairs the City Council Health Committee. “Pfizer has demonstrated consistently that it cares about what happens in the community and not just over the pharmacy counter.”
New York City Council Member Annabel Palma, Chair of the City Council Bronx Delegation added, “By making valuable health care information accessible for New York’s most underserved population, Pfizer has demonstrated that it cares what happens in the community. The Bronx Health Guide will be a critical resource to Bronx residents and I’m proud to have been part of this project.”
Arroyo and Palma made their remarks during a press conference to launch the directory at Hostos Community College in the Bronx.
